Michaels Eco Photography

My name is William Michaels, and I am a dedicated conservation scientist and nature photographer based in Silver Spring, Maryland. I use my camera to capture in the moment lighting and interactions of nature to inspire appreciation and support for our planet’s marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

Hiking the mountains and forests at an early age, I learned how to patiently observe the behavior of wildlife. My advanced educational studies in environmental sciences, including wildlife and marine biology, provided the foundation for understanding how ecosystems are interconnected on a global scale. Yet my appreciation matured working as a conservation scientist while navigating across oceans and continents with camera in hand.

Today, I share my interdisciplinary expertise in science and photography to inform public awareness, stakeholder engagement, and policy decisions on the socioeconomic benefits of sustainable and healthy ecosystems.
